Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in the execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The incumbent participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. Caregivers in this position will receive paid on the job training and are expected to practice in compliance with pharmacy technician trainee licensure.Shifts are flexible and will vary per training site. The schedule will be tailored to the trainee as much as possible. Candidates must work at least 20 hours per week for Intermountain Health to be eligible for the free online training portion of the program.
This position includes complete training, both computer-based and on-the-job, to prepare the candidate to pass their pharmacy technician licensing exam and become licensed as a pharmacy technician in the state of Utah.
Unpaid computer-based training can be done remotely. Paid on-the-job training must be done on site.

Intermountain Health is providing opportunities to be trained as a certified pharmacy technician. This program is administered through Franklin University, as part of the PEAK Education Program. The PEAK Education Program provides free tuition to benefits-eligible caregivers working for Intermountain Health. The program is accredited through ASHP and approved by Utah's Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. The program prepares and qualifies individuals for national pharmacy technician certification and state licensing. In addition to online learning modules, on-site training will be provided at Intermountain facilities. On-site training is paid.
